i have been thinking of this really cool idea of a painting for the past two days. when you get excited about something one usually has to tell someone about it. so after telling a few people and got great reviews of my idea i decided to tell my parents about it. it can sometimes be tough subjecting them to my ideas but this one did not seem to far out if you know what i mean. so i told my mom my idea and she made a face and said "oh so i'm Not going to like it" apparently i was supposed to know wether she was going to like my idea or not. i tried to reason with her saying that well ya know i am just trying to combine two styles to kinda make it my own and tried to tell her that she just may like it. she put a fight. i think my mom can be a little too stereotypical and it really bothers me. i wish she was more open to new things and would at least consider that my idea may be of value or at least pretend. don't get me wrong i like that she is honest however it was not like it was something totally ubseine or absurd, were talking about a painting of a portrait of one of my friends in a sort of abstract style. Im still a little new to the art world and i am learning so much so quickly. I feel myself slightly changing (my thoughts, my personality and such) and i think my parents are starting to think that i am going crazy. if my parents are giving me weird looks now, only after two years in the art world then what shall i expect from them for the rest of their lives as i pursue an art career? is this normal?
